Northwestern men’s basketball (13-16, 5-13 B1G) is playing its best basketball of the season, riding a three-game Big Ten winning streak into Wednesday. Purdue, meanwhile, looks vulnerable. The No. 15 Boilermakers (22-7, 12-6) have dropped three of their last four, including back-to-back losses to Michigan State and Ohio State.
Still, the preseason No. 1 team in the country has too much talent to stay down for long, and it will arrive in Evanston motivated to flip the script. On senior night, Northwestern will honor Nick Martinelli, then try to turn the ceremony into a statement, leaning on a recent history of making life difficult for Purdue at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
