Steven Adams looked right at home in Oklahoma City Saturday night.

The veteran Rockets center was spotted at Game 7 between the Thunder and Spurs, and honestly, it felt a little strange seeing him back in the building without a jersey on.

Before he was setting bone-rattling screens in Houston, Adams spent seven seasons in Oklahoma City after the Thunder selected him with the 12th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He quickly became one of the most popular players of that era, throwing his body around on playoff teams and earning a reputation as one of the toughest players in the league.

Before eventually reuniting in Houston years later, he spent three seasons sharing a locker room with Kevin Durant in Oklahoma City, including the Thunder’s infamous 2016 run in the Western Conference Finals.

Thunder fans never forgave Durant for leaving. Adams, on the other hand, remains practically untouchable.

It’s easy to forget Adams has only spent two of his 12 NBA seasons with the Rockets. Most of his career was spent in Oklahoma City, where he formed a memorable pick-and-roll partnership with Russell Westbrook and became part of the fabric of the organization.

That’s why seeing him courtside for a Thunder playoff game felt so natural.

No, showing up to a Thunder playoff game doesn’t mean Adams is headed back to Oklahoma City. But, with Houston trying to balance a contender’s payroll and a growing collection of young talent, it’s probably not the craziest conversation in the world, either.

It’s nice to see some connections never really go away, and judging by the reaction from Thunder fans, Steven Adams will probably always have a home in Oklahoma City.
