The Florida State Seminoles have seven commitments in the 2027 recruiting class. At the top of this class is four-star safety Mekhi Williams, who was the first player to commit to the Seminoles in the cycle.

The Lennard High School star has had several schools pursuing a flip lately. One contender has made more noise than others since they offered Williams back in February, and that's the Wisconsin Badgers. He's set to see them this weekend for an official visit, and per Zach Blostein of Noles247, it's one of the most important trips for the state of Florida's top prospects this weekend.

Mekhi Williams has been committed to Florida State since March of 2025 but has yet to shut down his recruitment and will set off on his first official visit elsewhere when he sees Wisconsin this weekend. The Badgers are a prime contender to flip the lengthy defensive back from the Seminoles after hosting him on campus several times unofficially. LSU is a recent offer for Williams that quickly became a player in his recruitment, scheduling an official visit with him for the end of June.

This is, without question, a huge visit. For FSU, it will be a devastating blow to lose a player of Williams' caliber, and it will further highlight the issues that they've had on the recruiting trail over the last few years. Currently, their 2027 class is ranked No. 31 in the nation and sixth in the ACC, which is simply not good enough.

Williams has an official visit with Florida State on June 5. For the sake of the 2027 class, the Seminoles need to treat this as one of, if not the most important, visits of the summer, especially with the Nebraska Cornhuskers and LSU Tigers set to host him the following two weeks.
