Florida State offered 2027 three-star defensive lineman Jason Lewis back in February, and then they hosted him for a spring practice in March.
The 6-foot-4, 260-pounder was back on campus for another practice on Saturday. Before he left Tallahassee, Lewis had good things to say about his time with the program as he and his family spent time with several members of the coaching staff.
"Getting back to see a practice, really not even a practice, a scrimmage, it was great to be down here," Lewis told Noles247. "I just enjoyed myself. Got to see the guys flying around. Got to see Coach T-Knight [Terrance Knighton], Coach Nick Will [Nick Williams] and Coach [Tony] White just be themselves and coach. It's just amazing to be back down here."
Lewis explained his reasoning for coming back to see the Seminoles.
"I've only been here [twice]. I wanted to get back down here because I really wanted to feel the vibe," Lewis said. "I didn't just want to see one practice and not see everything. I wanted to come to see them get after it, be with each other, be around each other, bond, grow, and get better."
Defensive line coach Terrance Knighton is targeting Lewis to play on the interior of FSU's defense. He has the skill set to play on the edge as well, and that versatility is what makes him such a huge target for Florida State.
"Honestly, I play football," said Lewis. "I'll play defensive tackle, d-end, I'll drop, I'll rush, I'll run stop, whatever they need me to do, I would be able to do that."
During his junior campaign, Lewis was a productive player at Osceola High School. He racked up 37 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, seven sacks, 15 quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and one blocked punt.
Lewis is the nation's No. 537 overall prospect and the No. 63 defensive line in the country per the 247Sports composite rankings. In the state of Florida, he's the No. 47-ranked recruit.
It will be a busy summer of official visits for Lewis. He'll take trips to see Mississippi State on May 29, FSU on June 5, Syracuse on June 12, and Duke on June 19.
Lewis is expected to make his decision in early July.
