A number of the top-seeded players at the French Open have already fallen. Big names like Iga Swiatek and Novak Djokovic were knocked out of the event early, potentially opening the door for other top-10 seeded players to make their move.
But if Tuesday was any indication, that could also prove to be a tough task, as Elina Svitolina became the most recent top-10 seed to be eliminated from the event.
Svitolina — seeded No. 7 — failed to advance past No. 15 Marta Kostyuk in the quarterfinals Tuesday. After dropping the first set, Svitolina was able to recover enough to push the game into a third set, but her comeback stopped there. Kostyuk moved on, winning the match 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
