Greenwood's Frederrick Ford has committed to Michigan football.
The four-star linebacker announced his commitment to the Wolverines on June 25, live on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel.
Ford is ranked as the No. 9 player in Mississippi and the No. 17 linebacker, nationally, in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 224 overall recruit.
He had narrowed his decision down to Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU, Tennessee and Michigan.
"(Michigan) got the No. 1 academic program," Ford said on CBS Sports College livestream. "They got the biggest stadium. They got a good fan base, and they just won (the 2024 College National Championship)."
The 6-foot-4, 203-pound rising senior is a multi-sport athlete at Greenwood and competes in basketball and track and field. He was also on The Opening Finals roster, which highlights 120 elite prospects from the 2027, 2028 and 2029 classes.
Ford joins Brandon four-star running back Tyson Robinson as two of the state's top 2027 class players to commit to the Michigan program. Robinson is ranked No. 8 in Mississippi.
This past season, the linebacker helped Greenwood to a 6-5 record in MHSAA 4A, while also playing running back.
