The Los Angeles Dodgers battled all the way down to their teeth against the San Diego Padres.

In a classic showdown, the Dodgers secured their 15th come-from-behind win with a 5-4 victory behind Freddie Freeman's two-home run night and late offensive surge.

Sheehan Fails to Reach Five Innings on Four Days Rest

Heading into this start, Sheehan became the first Dodgers pitcher this season to pitch on four days' rest.

Though the four day rest stretch is considered a "regular" rest period for starters, the shuffling of starting pitching due to injuries led to the short rest in Dodgers standards.

With that aside, Sheehan was coming into Tuesday's outing with some momentum.

Dave Roberts stated to the media in the pregame that Sheehan's six innings and six strikeout performance was the best start he's had all year.

Those numbers did not exactly coorelate with his Tuesday outing, as he gave up four earned runs across four innings of work.

All runs surrendered came via the longball, as the right-hander gave up a pair of two-run shots to Miguel Andujar —his second in as many days— and the struggling Manny Machado.

Freeman Clubs Two Home Runs, Andy Pages Delivers At-Bat of the Year against Mason Miller

The Dodgers 37-year-old first baseman had been struggling at the plate in his last five games.

Freeman was 0-for-his-last-16 before taking his first swings on Tuesday, and Roberts gave an insight on a potential reasoning for his struggles.

Roberts said that Freeman had been feeling under the weather the past few days and, with the lack of rest, those factors could have played a role in a downward trend at the plate.

But Freeman wiped all his past struggles away with a two-homer performance in the WIN/LOSS.

All of those home runs came at a pivotal moment in the game.

His first one came immediately after Shohei Ohtani led off the game with a double, which set up Freeman to launch his fifth home run of the season.

That gave the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead. But with the game tied 2-2 when he stepped up to the plate for his second at-bat, he popped more fireworks.

He greeted Padres reliever Jerimiah Estrada in the sixth with a game-tying long ball that he sent 399 feet to right-center field.

Heading into the ninth, the Padres sent out Mason Miller, in hopes of securing the tie 4-4 game into San Diego's home half of the ninth.

Max Muncy earned a walk that put a runner on for Andy Pages. Alex Call pinch-ran for Muncy at first and the jump Call at first made Miller attempt a pick-off at first.

The ball got away from first baseman Ty France that traveled to the right field foul wall and Call hurried his way to third.

Pages battled Miller for nine pitches, before flying out to Fernando Tatis Jr. in right field, that inducued a potential bang-bang play at the plate.

The call on the field ruled Call safe, but the Padres challenged. After a short discourse between the umpires, the call on the field stood safe, and Los Angeles took the lead once more.

Will Klein shut down the Padres in the ninth, securing his first career save.

With the disruptive outing in the ninth, the Dodgers handed Miller his first loss in over a year.

What's Next?

With this win, the Dodgers improve to 30-19.

Shohei Ohtani takes the mound on Wednesday in the rubber match, as the Dodgers look to take the series.
