On Thursday morning, fans and media were allowed to go to practice at Rupp Arena and get their eyes on this 2026-27 Kentucky Basketball team. Tons of clips came out, and a lot of good takeaways from the behind-the-scenes clips that surfaced online.
Among the clips, one of the most impactful takeaways from the morning practice was that Franck Kepnang is back to playing and healthy for the first time in a while. The transfer big man from Washington has had a career riddled with injury, but last year was his healthiest season yet, and Kentucky fans hope that continues as he made his way to Lexington for his final season.
The coaching staff opted to play it safe with Kepnang and held him out of practice for the most part this summer in hopes of avoiding any more injury setbacks. But thankfully, we got to see him in action some during the final practice of the summer.
Here are a couple of clips from Twitter of the big man knocking the rust off and showing what he can do.
Kepnang catches the ball in a short roll, takes one dribble, and gets to his spot before slamming it home. This is something Kentucky fans can expect when the veteran big man sees the floor.
This is a not-so-good clip in the end after getting dunked on by Braydon Hawthorne, but it shows Kepnang in live action, using his body to force a re-entry to Hawthorne in a one-on-one drill.
This clip below really shows the size of the man… HUGE! He caps the clip off by throwing down a two-handed windmill, which adds to how impressive he has been in his first days back.
