CARDINALS SIGN PAIR OF DRAFT PICKS

Tempe, AZ - The Arizona Cardinals today announced that the team has signed two of its 2004 draft picks - center Alex Stepanovich (fourth round, Ohio State) and defensive end Antonio Smith (fifth round, Oklahoma State). In accordance with club policy, terms were not disclosed.

A center at Ohio State for his first three seasons, Stepanovich shifted to guard as a senior due to injuries on the offensive line. The former Buckeye started 26 games during his four-year stay in Columbus, including appearing in every snap during Ohio State's 2002 undefeated season culminating in the Buckeye's victory over Miami in the Fiesta Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium.

A two-year starter at Oklahoma State after transferring from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Smith recorded two-year totals of 60 tackles (30 solos), 8.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, 7 quarterback pressures and 3 pass deflections in 24 games. He was an all-Big Twelve Conference honorable mention in both seasons as a Cowboy.

Not to be the one to put a wet blanket on the fun, but is this the direction we're going? Starting with the #4 pick and working our way down. I'd be alot more ecstatic if we were working our way up! Or even starting with the #2 and working our way down.

We've always worked our way down. Navarre telling the media that he'd play for 5 dollars might come back to haunt him...

Up as in to #1 you silly boy!
:moon:

I get ya, It will be concerning if tomorrow we draft 6 and 7. But even if we do, then Graves should go straight to Larry and make him an offer that he can't refuse. Let Dockett and Dansby fight over the remaining change in the ashtray.

I want Dockett in camp. Honestly I could care less about Dansby.

You won't be saying that after he leads us in sacks this season.

I hope he does, but our LBS aren't a glaring concern. Our D-Line and WRs are. Dansby will be a great addition, don't get me wrong, but if one player is to hold out, I hope it is him.

It's just concerning because our top 3 picks happen to have 3 of the worst agents to deal with. As someone else said, "the Cardinals hit the trifecta of problem agents".

No doubt. This guy's going to be our best LB in short time.
[obligatory]In my opinion[\obligatory]

Let's hope it takes a lot more than 2 and 1/2 or 3 sacks to be the team leader this year.

Would Dansby make a good Middle linebacker? I still think Fisher has alot of potential (if he stays healthy) and McKinnon is getting old. So if Ronnie plays his last season here, can Dansby take his spot and Fisher regain the starting position at outside linebacker. And what about Hayes? It seems like we might be stacked at LB in terms of depth.

It's been mentioned that Hayes is the heir apparent to Mckinnon, probably after this season.

I told you guys last year that Hayes would be our starting MLB for many seasons after McKinnon leaves. If you'd be taking notes, I wouldn't have to repeat myself. :D
