The World Cup brings a host of emotions along with it. Fans immerse themselves in the excitement, joy, and entertainment of seeing the world’s greatest talents duke it out while carrying a nation’s expectations upon their shoulders. Clubs, on the other hand, cautiously observe their players endure another gruelling tournament, praying the injury gods don’t strike.
The silver lining? Players who escape injury and manage to impress with the millions of judging eyes upon them may see their value increase.
According to Transfermarkt’s (as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER) latest price updates, four Bayern Munich players saw an increase in their transfer value following the World Cup.
Two of the four players (Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown) whose transfer value increased happen to be Bayern’s new signings — a positive sign for the upcoming season — while the other two (Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano) were both key figures in France’s semi-final run.
Olise’s €20m increase now places him in the top five most valuable players in the world (via @iMiaSanMia).
It was unfortunate that Bayern’s 40-year streak of having a player represented in the World Cup final was broken after France and England’s Semi-final exits. the club can at least take comfort in the value gained from the tournament.
