Former Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson announced his retirement from professional baseball on Monday.
Anderson, 33, spent eight of his 10 seasons in the Majors with the White Sox and debuted with the AL Central club in 2016.
To finish his career, Anderson played 65 games with the Miami Marlins in 2024 and 31 games with the Los Angeles Angels in 2025. He was designated for assignment in both seasons.
The White Sox will host a pregame ceremony for Anderson on Thursday, Sept. 17, according to the organization's X account.
Anderson earned All-Star selections in 2021 and 2022, and he won a Silver Slugger Award in 2020.

In 895 games with the White Sox, Anderson hit .282/.312/.422 with 98 home runs, 338 RBIs, a .735 OPS, and 16.7 bWAR.
The White Sox ended a 11-year postseason drought in 2020 with Anderson's help, and they clinched a second consecutive playoff berth in 2021.
Anderson ranks 21st on Chicago's all-time batting average leaderboard, ahead of Paul Konerko (.281) and A.J. Pierzynski (.279).
