It was announced Monday evening that former Hall of Fame basketball coach Rick Adelman passed away at 79 years old. Adelman was a seven-year NBA veteran, with his best seasons coming as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers. Adelman was also an NBA head coach for 23 seasons, working with the Blazers, Warriors, Kings, Rockets and Timberwolves.
Adelman spent two seasons as Golden State's head coach in the 1990s, coaching franchise legends like Tim Hardaway and Chris Mullin. Adelman holds a career 1042-749 record (.582 winning percentage) as a head coach, and although he never won Coach of the Year honors, he finished second for the award on four different occasions. Adelman's son, David Adelman currently coaches the Denver Nuggets.
