Warriors pay tribute to Popovich

Popovich sent out a message today stating the following.

"While my love and passion for the game remain, I’ve decided it’s time to step away as head coach.

I’m forever grateful to the wonderful players, coaches, staff and fans who allowed me to serve them as the Spurs head coach and am excited for the opportunity to continue to support the organization, community and city that are so meaningful to me."

The Warriors, who highlighted that Popovich served as an assistant coach for the team on Twitter/X sent out a message of their own from the former head coach of that staff.

"Pop is simply the best to ever do it, not only in terms of number of wins, but who he was, and is, as a person. An amazing coach and human being. Congrats on an incredible career."

-Don Nelson
