Former Hawaii women’s basketball coach Laura Beeman will remain with the athletic department as associate athletic director for student-athlete success, UH said Friday.
Her appointment is scheduled to be presented to the UH Board of Regents at a meeting on Thursday.
Beeman spent 14 years as Rainbow Wahine basketball coach before she announced her retirement on March 30.
In her new role, Beeman will oversee the department’s support services for student-athletes in areas including health and wellness, professional development, compliance and academic support.
The UH release also notes she will help to facilitate coach development programming, community engagement efforts and department-wide strategy.
“I would like to thank President (Wendy) Hensel, the Board of Regents and (AD) Matt Elliott for this opportunity,” Beeman said in the release. “I love The University of Hawaii. The people I have spent the last 14 years working with have become ohana. Continuing to work with the student-athletes, coaches and community is yet another dream come true.”
Beeman ended her UH coaching career with a 244-180 record over 14 seasons, ranking second in program history in both categories.
The Rainbow Wahine set a program-record, multi-year Academic Progress Rate score of 995 and posted a 3.49 team grade-point average in the 2025 fall semester.

Hawaii opposite hitter Kainoa Wade and middle blockers Roman Payne and Trevell Jordan were named to the 24-member 2026 Men’s U21 National Team on Friday.
The team will train June 12-21 at the Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Fourteen players will then be selected to compete at the 2026 NORCECA Men’s U21 Pan American Cup, June 21-29, in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Jordan will train for the fourth consecutive summer and was teammates with Wade on the 2025 U21 World Championship team that won bronze. Wade also competed on the 2025 U19 Pan American Cup team that won gold.
Payne played for the 2025 U19 World Championship team and won gold on the 2024 U19 Continental Championship team.
