North Carolina has already had a strong transfer portal in revamping the very poor 2024-2025 frontcourt problems. However, in the process of establishing a strong frontcourt, a neglect of the backcourt could lead to the same problems for Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels.
In an effort to add a strong presence at the guard position, a player like Andrej Stojakovic, a new player to enter the transfer portal on Thursday afternoon, would be a home run.
Since last year, UNC basketball has lost its top three guards and retained its fourth. Elliot Cadeau hit the transfer portal and is now at Michigan, RJ Davis exhausted his eligibility, and Ian Jackson entered the transfer portal with an unknown destination at this point. The only one they retained is senior guard Seth Trimble, a defense star.
However, his offensive game and ability to run the offense are strongly debatable. Hubert Davis added Jonathan Powell and Kyan Evans in the portal, which will help bridge the gap, but a strong offensive mind like Stojakovic could take this team to the next level.
As a prospect out of high school, he was highly recruited by North Carolina before eventually choosing Stanford. He was the No. 19-ranked player in the nation and the No. 3-ranked player in his state of California. He was a four-star prospect with a 97 rating from 247Sports. They have yet to give him a transfer portal rating.
He entered the transfer portal in 2024 and moved in-state from Stanford to Cal-Berkeley. After one season, he is again looking for a new team. He was also recruited by top teams like Duke, Kentucky, Florida, UCLA, Kansas, and UConn. He will become an immediate top priority for many college basketball teams; hopefully, Hubert Davis gets in the mix.
