Earlier this month on Jul. 11, 2026, Conor McGregor made his five-year-long MMA return at UFC 329 against Max Holloway. However, the fight had a disappointing finish, as McGregor had to be ruled out of the fight due to an ACL injury.

McGregor attempted an early jumping roundhouse kick, following which he fell multiple times and had to be ruled out of the fight. On Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, McGregor announced undergoing surgery after suffering ACL and meniscus injuries.

Since then, “The Notorious One” has been subjected to severe trolling and criticism on the internet, with many veterans ruling out another comeback for him. While McGregor promised to return in 2027 and have his last fight, former UFC fighter Darren Till wants McGregor to retire due to his injuries.

“I like it but the thing with Conor [is] he’s made a lot of money,” Till told The Independent. “He probably doesn’t still need it, but he probably wants it because it’s hard for him to leave the sport behind and he’s a fighter’s fighter. I do get it but sometimes it’s probably best to just let it go.

If Conor’s getting injured like that in the first few seconds of a fight, he should probably be listening to his body. But again, the one thing with Conor, he’s got more than enough money to get seen to and to get all the best procedures, so who knows, he might come back a better man, he might not. We’ll see,” Till added.

While McGregor is currently out with his injury, Till is currently preparing himself for his second fight in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
