Former USC Trojan Nikola Vučević is now on the move to another destination after his up-and-down time with the Chicago Bulls. The former Trojan is headed to the Boston Celtics for Anfernee Simons and a second-round pick swap. It seems like both sides are getting exactly what they want in this trade, and both sides benefit greatly.

Nikola Vučević has been a Chicago Bull since the 2020-2021 season, and he has been very solid with his production. During his time in Chicago, he has averaged at least 17 points, 10 rebounds per game, and at least 47% shooting from the field. He has not been the all-star version of himself in Chicago, but he has been a really good 3rd option. Unfortunately for the Bulls, his trade value since their big 3 era with DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine blew up in flames has been little to nothing. The contract the Bulls gave him scared just about every team away.

Now the former Trojan is 35 years old, yet he is still averaging 16.9 points, 9 rebounds, and shooting 50% from the field per contest this season. The Boston Celtics have been looking to upgrade their front court, and Nikola Vučević is a very attractive piece to their roster.

Boston, without Jayson Tatum, is sitting at 3rd place in the Eastern Conference and has been one of the biggest surprises this season. Jaylen Brown has been a potential MVP candidate, and his averaging just shy of 30 points per game. Adding a scorer like Vučević will make this Celtics team a really dangerous out in the playoffs and a title favorite once Tatum comes back next season. The Celtics have gotten the most out of any center that has landed in Boston; Vučević will be no different. Vučević will be a more available Kristaps Porzingis, minus the great defensive ability, and a way better Al Horford. This is a huge win for the Boston Celtics.

For the Bulls, getting anything back for Vučević would have been a win not too long ago. Getting a pick swap and a younger player is a win for a team that is looking to start to rebuild. Anfernee Simons is a very underrated scorer in the league, and even with the Bulls having a lot of guards, Simons gives the Bulls the 3-point shooting they desperately need. He will be a great fit alongside Josh Giddey.

Vučević now gets an opportunity to represent the Trojans in the NBA playoffs, and who knows, with how good Boston has played this season, he could get his chance to contend for a championship ring.
