Former Texas A&M star and current Carolina Panthers linebacker Nic Scourton suffered a torn ACL on Thursday during the first practice of training camp on Thursday, according to Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network and ESPN.
Scourton was carted off the field after suffering the injury during drills. The 21-year-old is entering his second season with the Panthers and was looking to take another step after a strong rookie season.
He played in 17 games in 2025, making eight starts after Carolina drafted him in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He finished the year with 47 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, nine quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup. He finished tied for the team lead in sacks and second in tackles for loss.
Scourton spent the 2024 season with the Aggies after starting his career with the Purdue Boilermakers. He was one of the top players in the portal when he signed with Texas A&M and lived up to the hype, making the All-SEC First Team after recording 37 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, and two pass breakups.
He was primed to have a breakout season after the Panthers signed free agent pass rusher Jaelen Phillips, freeing up Scourton to thrive opposite the proven veteran.
