Former Texas A&M defensive end Nic Scourton is off to a solid start to the 2025 NFL season, carving out a strong rotational role for the Carolina Panthers. Of all the Aggies selected in the draft, Scourton is experiencing the most success so far.

Scourton was considered a first-round talent but fell to the second round after a solid 2024 season at Texas A&M, which marked a decline from the dominant pass rusher he had been at Purdue. I’m not sure you can call a top-100 NFL pick a steal, but pass rushers come at a premium—so if you can land one on day two of the draft, it’s kind of like hitting on a lottery ticket scratcher.

After suffering a collapsed lung at the beginning of the season, he worked his way back into the lineup and has improved each week. On Sunday, against the New Orleans Saints, he recorded his second full sack, bringing his season total to three. With Scourton showing significant improvement, he’s giving Panthers fans hope for the future of the team.
