Former Tennessee athletics administrator Reid Sigmon was hired by Navy as its deputy athletic director and chief business and revenue officer.

Sigmon was most recently the deputy athletic director and chief operating officer at Oklahoma State, where he worked since 2021. He was a member of Tennessee's athletic department from 2017-21 as its deputy athletic director for finance and operations as well as chief operating officer.

"The opportunity to serve an institution as unique and impactful as the United States Naval Academy is incredibly meaningful," Sigmon said in a school release on June 18. "I look forward to helping create new opportunities for Navy Athletics while supporting the development of the outstanding young men and women who represent our nation."

Sigmon was hired at Tennessee in April 2017 by former AD John Currie, who was ousted in December after a months-long, backlash-filled search to replace football coach Butch Jones. Sigmon then worked for Phillip Fulmer and stayed under current AD Danny White for about five months after his hiring in January 2021, eventually leaving for Oklahoma State in June.

Sigmon's responsibilities at Tennessee included serving as sport administrator of the men's basketball program and managing day-to-day responsibilities for the athletics department. At Oklahoma State, he was also the sport administrator for football.

Before coming to Tennessee, Sigmon helped plan multiple Super Bowls and a men's Final Four. He was the College Football Playoff's chief financial officer when Currie hired him.

Sigmon's position at Navy is new and according to the school will focus on — among other things — expanding revenue opportunities, maximizing Navy's home football stadium and strengthening the athletic department's long-term financial sustainability.
