A former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver continued his NFL comeback bid as training camps heat up around the league, and his latest stop took him to the AFC South.
On Thursday, ex-Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool was brought in by the Colts for a workout. Claypool ultimately left without a contract, but Indianapolis could remain interested as training camp continues to roll on.
Claypool was selected by the Steelers with the 49th overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft and had a successful two-year start to his career, catching 121 passes for 1,733 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Steelers traded Claypool to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a second-round draft pick, which Pittsburgh used to draft star cornerback Joey Porter Jr.
The Bears traded Claypool to the Miami Dolphins in 2023, but the former Steelers wide receiver once again failed to capture some of the magic from his early years in Pittsburgh. Claypool showed promise as an early offseason standout for the Buffalo Bills in 2024, but a severe toe injury derailed his success and his NFL career.
Claypool worked out for the Green Bay Packers earlier this offseason, but he also did not receive a contract offer. Hopefully, the former Steelers wide receiver can find a new team soon, as Claypool's first few years were special.
