Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kordell Stewart is eyeing a big career move. Per Josina Anderson, the Colorado legend is eyeing the open head coach job at his alma mater’s largest rival, Colorado State.
“I’m told former Steelers Ravens [and] Bears QB & Colorado Hall of Famer Kordell “SLASH” Stewart has retained Young Money APAA Sports for his representation as he pursues a collegiate head coaching opportunity, “Anderson reports. ”Sources say there’s interest in the open Colorado State job, & that Stewart has already assembled a veteran staff of prominent NCAA & NFL coaches.“

Stewart has a long and complicated history with Colorado dating back to his time as a player. He was one class short of graduating when he entered the NFL Draft due to a miscommunication with a professor, which caused him to have to go back and finish his degree. In addition, the university has yet to retire his jersey, despite him being arguably the best quarterback in the school’s history.
Stewart won 45 games as the Steelers’ starting quarterback from 1996-2002, earning Pro Bowl honors in 2001 – the same season in which he helped lead the Steelers to the AFC Championship Game.
