Spain legend Joan Capdevila has asked United States President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for help after his Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) was denied, preventing him from watching the World Cup final with his family in New Jersey on Sunday.
Capdevila played the full match for Spain in its only other appearance in a World Cup final, where they won 1-0 against the Netherlands in 2010 after extra time. The 48-year-old hopes to see La Roja in action and hopefully beat La Albiceleste at MetLife Stadium.
“I NEED HELP @realDonaldTrump. They just told me that I can’t travel to the final with my kids because my ESTA has been denied. Can anyone help me with this?” Capdevila posted on X.
“You have no idea how excited I was to be there with all my teammates from 2010 and this team to cheer them on. I can’t believe they won’t let me enter the U.S… and that I’ll miss a moment like this with my kids, who love soccer so much. If anyone knows how to fix this, I’ll be eternally grateful,” he continued.

Spain are back in the World Cup final after a 16-year odyssey because Luis de la Fuente’s men are one of the top-performing teams in the quadrennial tournament.
After their surprising goalless draw against Cape Verde in the opener, La Roja won their subsequent matches against Saudi Arabia and Uruguay to take the top berth in Group H before eliminating Austria, Portugal, Belgium, and France in the knockout phase.
Mikel Oyarzabal leads Spain in scoring with five goals and one assist. Mikel Merino and Pedro Porro have two goals each, while Lamine Yamal, Fabian Ruiz, and Alex Baena have one goal apiece in this tournament.
