Former Sixers forward chimes in on LeBron James free agency chase

The Philadelphia 76ers have had a busy offseason as President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey has been aggressive with his moves to improve the roster in order to chase down the champion New York Knicks in the East. However, Gansey and Co. have their eyes on an even bigger addition.

Future Hall of Famer and 41-year-old LeBron James is still out there in free agency after telling the Los Angeles Lakers he will now be returning after eight seasons in Tinseltown. He averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds in the 2025-26 season and is set to enter year No. 24 in the league after being selected No. 1 overall back in 2003. The Sixers are certainly in the race along with former James stops, the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers for his services.

Former Sixers forward PJ Tucker gave his thoughts and prediction on where James goes while appearing on the "Club 520" podcast:

I got him going to Golden State. LeBron to Golden State is going to be tough.

While Tucker has his own prediction, it has been reported that the Warriors are pessimistic about their chances of landing James. It does appear that the frontrunners for his services are the Sixers, Cavs, and Heat as this comes down the stretch.
