Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger upset the Baltimore Ravens Flock after his bold take about their Super Bowl window closing, and one former wide receiver made his feelings clear on Big Ben's comments.
Ex-Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith fired back at Roethlisberger and the Steelers, calling the roster "trash" while claiming that Baltimore will always have a chance with Lamar Jackson at signal-caller.
“Who cares what Ben Roethlisberger thinks?” Smith said via CBS News Baltimore. “He’s never gonna say anything positive. As long as you have Lamar Jackson, your window is there. It’s funny because he’s the same guy that people were saying that about in Pittsburgh, but he was in his 30s. Lamar Jackson is still in his 20s and is very much the best player in the league.
“I do like Ben Roethlisberger. However, it seems like this is a guy that’s trying to pump up the sorry Steelers. They’re terrible. I don’t care who they have at quarterback. … They have this false sense of reality that, all of a sudden, Pittsburgh is going to change because Mike Tomlin was the problem. They’re gonna find out real quick that the roster is still trash.”
Despite Smith's passionate defense of his former Ravens, the Steelers do not, in fact, have a "trash" roster. In fact, one could argue that, on paper, the Steelers have a top-five roster with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback.
Roethlisberger must have known he'd ruffle the feathers of the Ravens Flock following his criticisms of Baltimore's Super Bowl window, but today's Steelers now have a little extra motivation when facing off against their AFC North rivals in 2026.
