Nebraska athletics announced its Hall of Fame class on Thursday morning, and one football representative made the cut. Offensive lineman Dean Steinkuhler was announced as part of the class.

Steinkuhler had a successful and decorated career in Lincoln, playing from 1979 to 1983. He won both the Outland Trophy and the Lombardi Trophy in 1983, becoming just the sixth player to do so. The Outland Trophy is given to the nation’s best interior lineman and the Lombardi Award is given to the most outstanding lineman/linebacker

He also had the iconic fumblerooski against the Miami Hurricanes in the 1984 Orange Bowl. He picked up the intentional fumble and ran 19 yards for a touchdown. His No. 71 is retired by the Huskers.

Now, he will be officially inducted into the program's Hall of Fame in a ceremony on October 2, the day before the Cornhuskers take on the Maryland Terrapins. It will certainly be a prestigious honor for a player who certainly deserves his flowers.
