It has been quite the whirlwind collegiate career for former Notre Dame men’s basketball forward Ven-Allen Lubin.

The 6-foot, 8-inch and 230-pound Florida native started his career with the Irish during the 2022-23 season, but then opted to leave for more playing time. Lubin would then land at Vanderbilt, and again after one season with the Commadores, entered the portal.

He’d land at North Carolina this time around, and after just one year with the Tar Heels, Lubin has once again entered the portal. He started the majority of games for UNC, but saw his production dip from his second season to his third.

There is a caveat with this specific portal entrance, Lubin is expected to remain at North Carolina. Our friends at Tar Heels Wire are reporting that he has “full intent on returning to UNC.”

While the expectations are that he will return, there could always be another factor that forces him to move on once again. It would have been nice to have Lubin on this past year’s Notre Dame team, but that ship has long sailed.

Before anybody jumps to the wrong conclusion, I am letting everyone know that I am entering the transfer portal with full intent on returning to UNC. My action relates to the complexities surrounding the possible approval of the pending NCAA settlement.
