Former NFL player Marcellus Wiley was arrested in Florida during the holiday weekend for alleged domestic battery. The former Buffalo Bills star, who also appeared alongside his wife, Annemarie, on a previous season of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” has been in the headlines before. In April 2026, the retired athlete was accused of sexual assault by four new women who claimed he assaulted them during his time as a student at Columbia University. Wiley’s arrest is just the latest controversy surrounding the NFL. Last week, Terrion Arnold was released from the Detroit Lions after being accused of setting up an alleged robbery that left victims with visible injuries.

According to TMZ, Wiley, 51, was arrested during the Fourth of July weekend and charged with domestic battery. The Dallas Cowboys alum was still in custody as of 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 5. The details surrounding Wiley’s arrest weren’t made available at the time of this publication.
This isn’t the first time Wiley has been in the headlines and accused of criminal behavior. Another report from PEOPLE in May 2026 states that Wiley was accused of sexual assault by four women. The legal documents state that Wiley allegedly assaulted an ESPN employee in 2009 and three other women between 1995 and 1999.
The former ESPN employee accused Wiley of assaulting her in his hotel room after allegedly inviting her over under a false guise. “When we went to his room, Wiley excused himself to use the bathroom,” the woman claimed in the legal filings. “He emerged from the bathroom naked. He pushed me up against the windows of the room so hard I thought they would shatter. I was petrified and believed I was going to be killed.”

Two of the other women accused Wiley of assaulting them in the late ’90s when he was playing college football for Columbia University and at the beginning of his career with the Bills. The fourth victim accused Wiley of allegedly trying to pursue her romantically when she was just 13. That victim then said in a legal document that Wiley allegedly assaulted her when she turned 18.
Wiley denied the allegations against him in a YouTube video, calling them “false” and accusing the women of using his name for “personal gain.”
“As they say, assassination by accusation. That’s their goal. They’re trying by lying. They don’t want justice. They want just ice. Money, bling, things,” he said. “For every one of them, I either saw, communicated through email, text, phone, was invited by these individuals after these dates to engage, to be intimate or all the above, after the dates that are in question.”
Annemarie Wiley Defends Her Husband, Marcellus Wiley, After ‘RHOBH’ Viewers Called Him ‘Transphobic’
In 2024, Wiley’s wife, Annemarie, defended her husband against claims that he was a transphobe following their “RHOBH” exit. “I am so happy to address that,” she said on an episode of “Reality With the King.”
She added, “Calling someone transphobic is very hurtful, disgusting, and damaging. I support the trans community, trans rights and women’s sports. No one is transphobic.”
According to the former Bravo star, she said that her husband’s stance had more to do with him not wanting transgender women competing in sports alongside cisgender women.
“My husband’s stance on it is that he is not in support of it, and he’s in support of there being safe spaces for everybody, and I agree with that,” she said.

Wiley’s personal problems are just the latest in the NFL’s controversies, according to The Blast. Terrion Arnold, a former Detroit Lions player, was released from the team after he was accused by the Tampa Police Department of setting up an alleged robbery and assault that left three victims with visible injuries. In the legal documents, Arnold was also accused of watching a livestream of the alleged beating and “reportedly gave directions to [others] during the assault.” If found guilty, Arnold faces life in prison.

Reps from Arnold’s team instantly denied the allegations, saying there is “no credible evidence” linking the University of Alabama alum to the alleged crimes. “Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences,” his rep added.
