We now have an official buyout number and date for when former Michigan State athletic director J Batt will begin with his new school.

Kentucky announced the official start date for their new athletic director Batt on Thursday. He will officially take over at Kentucky on July 28.

Additionally, Kentucky announced they'll pay a buyout total of $3.95 million to Michigan State as part of Batt's departure. That is a settlement total as Batt's original contract called for Michigan State to receive $5 million since the Spartans retained president Kevin Guskiewicz earlier this week. Had Guskiewicz left for Clemson as he originally planned to do, then Kentucky would have only paid $2.5 million as part of Batt's buyout.

Batt announced his plans of leaving Michigan State for Kentucky last week. The move came only one year after he took over as the Spartans' athletic director.
