Former MLB player Jordyn Adams is trying his hand on a different field.

Adams, 26, who was part of the Los Angeles Angels and Baltimore Orioles, is planning to play football for Southern Methodist University (SMU), according to multiple reports, including On3, The Athletic and CBS Sports.

Adams has reportedly enrolled at the university and intends to join the football team, although a source close to the school's program told The Athletic that Adams has not officially signed with the Mustangs yet.

Adams was pursuing college football as a top-100 recruit before agreeing to a $4.1 million deal with the Angels after he was a first-round draft pick in the 2018 MLB Draft. According to The Athletic, Adams signed a letter of intent in December 2017 with North Carolina, not far from his high school in Cary, N.C., but de-committed when the Angels offered him a contract.

Adams made his major league debut in 2023 after spending four seasons with the Angels' minor league team. He spent the majority of his MLB career playing for minor league teams before being released by the Brewers' Triple A squad on May 25.

According to On3, Adams intends to play wide receiver for the Mustangs.

Adams has yet to comment on the reports, and while his account on Instagram is private, his bio now includes a mention of SMU Mustangs football.
