Chicago (2-0) defeated Golden State (2-1), 69-63, on Wednesday at Chase Center in San Francisco, California.
Former Lady Vol Rickea Jackson started for the Sky and played 39 minutes. She scored 18 points and converted 6-of-18 field goal attempts, 1-of-5 three-point attempts and 5-of-6 free throw attempts.
Jackson also recorded five rebounds, five assists, one steal and two blocks against the Valkyries. Skylar Diggins was Chicago's second leading scorer with 15 points.
Chicago will next play on Friday at Phoenix. Tipoff between the Sky and Mercury is slated for 10 p.m. EDT (ION). Jackson is in her first season with Chicago. She was traded to the Sky from Los Angeles for Ariel Atkins on April 12.
Jackson was selected by the Sparks in the 2024 WNBA draft (No. 4 overall). She played at Tennessee from 2022-24 after transferring from Mississippi State.
The former Lady Vol averaged 20.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game during the 2023-24 season. She earned USA TODAY Sports Network All-SEC First-Team honors two times.
