A former New York Knicks star and six-time All-Star recently received the post-retirement news that many dream of.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the 43-year-old was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame on Tuesday.
“Amar'e Stoudemire, Candace Parker, Elena Delle Donne, and Doc Rivers are among the members inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2026,” ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on X/Twitter.
While the final years of Stoudemire's career were nothing to write home about, the Lake Wales, Florida native’s overall resume has Hall of Fame written all over it.
Stoudemire spent the first eight years of his career with the Phoenix Suns, earning five All-Star nods, one All-NBA first team nod, three All-NBA second team selections, and Rookie of the Year honors (2003) with the Western Conference franchise.
In 2010, Stoudemire signed a multi-year deal with the Knicks and enjoyed instant individual success. The former first-round pick averaged 25.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game with New York in Year 1, shooting 50.2% from the field and 43.5% from beyond the arc.
Stoudemire’s play earned him an additional All-Star nod and All-NBA second team selection.
The ex-McDonald’s All-American's play in New York began to decline after his standout 2010-11 campaign with the Knicks, but he enjoyed a tremendous NBA career that lasted until 2016.
It goes without saying that Stoudemire’s Hall of Fame nod is clear evidence of that.
