The Kentucky Wildcats had two of their own hear their name called during the 2026 NBA Draft -- Jayden Quaintance, a first-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs, and Otega Oweh, a second-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Oweh was a much more seasoned collegiate player than Quaintance, but his ceiling at the NBA level is certainly more capped given his age and offensive toolset. Now, Oweh has the upside to be a really quality two-way player for the Thunder down the road, and that's where he can make his living at the NBA level.

He recently had his Salt Lake City Summer League debut for the Thunder in a blowout loss to the Cameron Boozer-led Memphis Grizzlies. The Thunder's first-round pick, Andy Mara, competed as well. Oweh had 8 points on 3-for-7 shooting. On top of that, he had four rebounds and two assists, also coughing up three turnovers. He showed some flair on the defensive side of the ball, ending with two steals and one block.

Oweh is on an ultra-talented Thunder team, so cracking that initial roster is not going to be easy. However, he did hold the best +/- of the starting five, so if he can really hone in on being an impactful two-way player, his chances will certainly improve.

Having been a fan-favorite guard with Kentucky, Oweh really made his presence felt this past season, being one of the team's premier go-to scoring weapons and averaging 18.6 points per game. He shot 46.5% from the field and 33.3% from deep as well in his final season with the Cats.

The Thunder will take the court against the Atlanta Hawks again on Monday, so look for another Oweh showing then as well.
