It has been quite the introduction to the NFL for former Notre Dame star safety Xavier Watts, and he took it to another level on Monday night.

The Atlanta Falcons rookie not only intercepted a pass, he picked off two against the Los Angeles Rams. Watts made the second one historic, not only taking it back for a score, but he tied a Falcons record for most interceptions by a rookie according to Miles Garrett of Fox 5 in Atlanta.

After this performance, it’s pretty safe to say that Watts was a massive steal in the draft for Atlanta. They selected the former Irish star in the third round, and he’s been a starter since Week 1. No one in South Bend is surprised by his play, after winning the 2023 Bronko Nagurski Trophy and being a two-time All-American.

Watts probably won win the defensive Rookie of the Year, but there’s no doubt that he’d had a major impact for the 7-9 Falcons.
