A former Georgia Bulldog running back could be getting another shot in the NFL as Zamir White is working out with the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The 26-year-old halfback is still a free agent after the Las Vegas Raiders let him hit free agency.
White ran for 736 yards and two touchdowns on 198 carries through four seasons with the Raiders. That's only 3.7 yards per attempt, and after a 2023 season where he earned 451 yards and a touchdown on 104 attempts, he saw his role diminish in Las Vegas.
In 2024, White was supposed to take over the starting job with incumbent starter Josh Jacobs signing a four-year, $48 million deal with the Green Bay Packers. However, he wasn't able to claim the starting role in 2024. He only earned 183 yards and a touchdown on 65 attempts, with injuries limiting him to eight games.
The Raiders drafted standout running back and Heisman runner-up Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, and Jeanty immediately took over as the starting running back. They then drafted Arkansas running back Mike Washington Jr. in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft. He will likely replace White's role as the secondary back behind Jeanty.
The Miami Dolphins worked out White in late May, but decided to sign Carlos Washington Jr. instead. However, landing with the Cowboys would give him a decent situation and role. Javonte Williams is probably the starter, but White could compete with fifth-rounder Jaydon Blue, Malik Davis, and Phil Mafah.
Before his time in the NFL, White was one of Georgia's best power backs in recent memory. Through three seasons in a Bulldog uniform, he earned 2,043 yards and 25 touchdowns on 382 carries. He led all Georgia running backs in yards in 2020 (779) and 2021 (856), and he was a big help in Georgia winning the 2021 national championship.
