How do we say this tactfully? Kevin Patullo's run as the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator didn't unfold the way anyone hoped. Promoted on February 19, 2025, he was relieved of his duties less than a year later on January 13.
That's the business. It's rarely gentle.
Still, no one roots for someone to lose their job, which made it encouraging to see Patullo quickly land elsewhere. When Jeff Hafley was hired to lead the Miami Dolphins, the former Eagles offensive playcaller followed. Like LeBron James many years ago, Patullo takes his talents to South Beach. He takes on the role of passing game coordinator in Miami.
Fast-forward to the 2026 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. As coaches and general managers made their media rounds, Hafley was asked about his new assistant. Patullo hasn't been in the building long, but the early reviews were glowing.
And that certainly matters.
While one chapter in Philadelphia closed much sooner than expected, reputations around the league aren't built on a single season. They're built on relationships, preparation, football acumen, and the respect of someone's peers.
Hafley's praise suggests Patullo still carries plenty of that currency despite a setback, and that's good to see. It's a reminder. Sometimes, setbacks are exactly that, not verdicts.
Patullo's new opportunity with the Dolphins isn't about rewriting what happened in Philadelphia. It's about proving that growth often follows adversity. And if Hafley's early assessment is any indication, the next chapter might tell a very different story.
In this league, careers aren't defined by one stop. They're shaped by how you respond to the detours. If Kevin Patullo makes the most of this opportunity in Miami, his brief stint in Philadelphia will feel less like an ending and more like a necessary turn in a much longer journey.
