Former Los Angeles Dodgers utility player Chris Taylor has retired, according to the MiLB transaction log, ending his time in professional baseball.

Taylor was an incredibly versatile defender who could play all over the field, starting at six different positions during his time with the Dodgers.


On top of his glove, Taylor had an affinity for clutch hits and moments, making incredible catches and big-time hits throughout his time with the Dodgers.

He played in 80 games during the postseason, hitting .247/.351/.441 with a 116 wRC+. On top of that, he has totaled 56 hits, 24 being for extra bases.

Taylor was cherished in the clubhouse, even after he lost his productive bat. His defense and leadership kept him with the team until 2025, when the Dodgers designated him for assignment during the regular season.

He would be picked up by the Los Angeles Angels, making some appearances with them, though injuries limited his total game count.

Taylor was a free agent for a long time over the offseason before signing a minor league deal with the Angels.

However, 2025 would be the last time that he made a regular-season appearance — he retired before getting a chance to do so in 2026.

He hit .255/.382/.321 down in the minor leagues for the Angels this season, playing in 32 games.

Chris Taylor’s Clutch Moments with the Dodgers​


Taylor hit .316/.458/.789 with two home runs, a triple, and a double during the 2017 NLCS, along with go-ahead home runs in Games 1 and 2, which led to him getting the co-MVP award with Justin Turner.

In 2021, after hitting a walk-off home run in the Wild Card round against the St. Louis Cardinals, Taylor had a great NLCS moment, hitting three home runs that scored six total runs.

While his numbers at the end of his time with the Dodgers were not great, Taylor will always be remembered for these moments and more. Even as stars came to Los Angeles, fans have never and will never forget CT3’s role in bringing the Dodgers back to October and winning times.
