Fox color analyst Mark Sanchez has been hospitalized after being stabbed by an assailant in Indianapolis, IN. Sanchez, 38, is a reportedly in stable condition after a robbery attempt.
Fox Sports released a statement on the incident and his current condition. "We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family's privacy during this time." According to TMZ, police were called out at 12:30 am to two people being assaulted in a robbery.
Sanchez was in town to call this weekend's game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Indianapolis Colts in Week 5. There's been no announcement who will now pair with Adam Amin for the broadcast in the late afternoon window.
Sanchez played in the league for 10 years, breaking in as the rookie QB of the New York Jets in 2009. He spent five seasons in the Big Apple, before playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears and finally the Washington then-Redskins in 2018. In between he played for the Dallas Cowboys in 2016.
He appeared in two games in Dallas, completing 10 of 18 passes while backing up Tony Romo.
Following his retirement, Sanchez took a role with ESPN to announce college football for two years before moving to Fox and FS1 to work the NFL beat.
