The Kansas City Chiefs will lose another body to the NFL's free agency market. This time it is defensive lineman Charles Omenihu, who will sign with a team from the NFC East.
Charles Omenihu has agreed to a one-year, $4 million deal with the Washington Commanders, as reported by NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The deal will have the opportunity to be sweetened to $7 million, subject to incentives.
Omenihu finished the 2025 season with 28 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 17 games played. He spent three seasons in Kansas City, including a Super Bowl victory in 2023.
Omenihu can be utilized in multiple sets and has a great motor to get to the opposing quarterback. He can also shift over from defensive end to defensive tackle.
Omenihu was drafted by the Houston Texans in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of the University of Texas. He brings great length to the Commanders organization at just over 6-foot-5.
