The New England Patriots defeated the Houston Texans on Sunday, 28-16, to advance to the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos. A former Auburn defensive back was instrumental in the win.

Former Auburn cornerback Carlton Davis III logged four tackles and two first-half interceptions for the Patriots in the win. Davis' two picks were half of Texans' quarterback CJ Stroud's four interceptions on the day. Jordy McElroy of Patriots Wire included Davis in his postgame "Studs and duds" list, citing the talent Davis used to make his two interceptions.

Carlton Davis had himself a game on Sunday. The veteran cornerback had four tackles, one tackle for a loss, four passes defended and two interceptions. Both catches on the interceptions were astounding given his ability to secure the ball and keep his body inbounds. It's moments like these that pay to have an experienced and talented No. 2 cornerback like Davis on the team.

Davis is having the best season of his career in 2025 for the Patriots. His four tackles in Sunday's game increased his tackle total to 73, which is the most he has made in a single season over his eight-year career. His two interceptions also extended his streak of recording at least two interceptions per season to three seasons.

Next up for the Davis and the Patriots is the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT. Davis will go against former Auburn teammate, Jarrett Stidham, who is slated to start the game at quarterback for the Broncos, filling in for injured quarterback Bo Nix.
