The San Francisco 49ers have made several roster moves over the last week or so, as they make room for new additions to compete for jobs and opportunities throughout training camp.

Among those that the 49ers moved on from is cornerback Derrick Canteen, who didn't have to wait long to find his new home. According to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, just days after the 49ers waived him, the 25-year-old is signing with the Tennessee Titans.

Canteen played collegiately at Georgia Southern from 2019-22, Virginia Tech in 2023 and Cincinnati in 2025. After going undrafted last year, he signed with the 49ers. While the cornerback made the roster out of camp, he was cut early in the year before re-signing to the practice squad just a week later.

San Francisco gave Canteen a reserve/futures contract this offseason, but with injuries on the offensive side of the ball, they released him to sign wide receiver Trenton Irwin.

Now, he'll join the Titans and reunite with former 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and get another opportunity to fight for a job over the next month.
