Flyers GM raves about Michigan State hockey's player development

Michigan State hockey saw it's season come to a tragic end in the regional final this past Saturday. While unfortunately it was not the outcome the team wanted, Spartan fans got to see Porter Martone ink his first NHL deal.

Martone was always thought to be a one-and-done with Michigan State, so losing him is not a massive deal, but instead nice to see a Spartan get the opportunity to play at the next level.

After Martone inked his deal with the Flyers, Philadelphia general manager Daniel Briere spoke to the media, where he raved about Michigan State's player development.

"One thing I'd like to say is how thankful we are to Michigan State, the coaching staff, his teammates there. How Porter embraced the role of going there and also how much he developed this year, we give Michigan State a lot of credit for that, the whole staff was really impressed with what they did with Porter."
