Flory Bidunga projected to make twice as much at Louisville than the NBA originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
When former Kansas big man Flory Bidunga landed in Louisville, the move immediately had people wanting to know his asking price. The Cardinals seem to be stocking up under head coach Pat Kelsey with resources being available in abundance for the ACC program.
There was a report Bidunga was commanding $5 million during his transfer portal recruitment, and it now appears this was the case. However, the story wasn't the over-inflated cost to get him to commit to Louisville, but how he'd be making more in college than the NBA.
Bidunga, who was projected to go near the end of the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft, will make twice as much by staying in school.

The NIL era has forced teams to invest at the high end of the spectrum with no true market evaluation. Because Bidunga came from Kansas and played in Bill Self's system, his value is extremely high right now. He averaged 13.3 points and nine rebounds per game as one of the most productive post players.

Louisville was able to sign Bidunga and Oregon guard Jackson Shelstad within the first weekend of the portal window being open. The consensus is the Cardinals and Kelsey aren't done trying to beat out other teams for a few more portal pieces.
