Luke Loucks and Florida State basketball built an exceptional recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, his first full class as the head coach. They are trying to do the same in the 2027 cycle, and they are once again heavily involved with some of the best players in the country.

The plans took a hit on Sunday when four-star point guard Kevin Savage committed to the Purdue Boilermakers over the Seminoles, UCLA Bruins, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Savage is from Marietta, Georgia, and is one of the top point guards in the country.

He is ranked as the No. 41 overall player and No. 13 point guard in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 6 player from Georgia.

While not a perfect fit for FSU's system, he has several traits that would have made him an exciting player in Tallahassee. He is undersized at 5-foot-11, but as the speed and attitude to make up for it on defense and hold his own against taller players. His 3-point shot is also still developing, but he excels at getting the ball to his teammates at the rim or behind the 3-point line when he drives.

FSU, which signed the No. 16 recruiting class last year, is still looking for its first commitment as the recruitment of top 2027 prospects starts to pick up over the summer.

NEWS: 4⭐️ Kevin Savage has committed to Purdue, he told @Rivals.

The 5-11 point guard is a top-40 overall recruit in the 2027 class.
