Florida State is among a group of programs showing strong interest in Virginia Tech transfer Neoklis Avdalas, as the 6-foot-9 freshman guard draws an impressive list of suitors after just one season in Blacksburg.

Along with the Seminoles, programs receiving serious consideration include Texas, Kentucky, North Carolina, St. John's, Michigan, Arkansas, and Oklahoma State, according to John Rothstein of CBS Sports. Notably, Avdalas will not be taking any official visits as he navigates the process.

Avdalas, a native of Kalamata, Greece, was the second-highest-ranked recruit in Virginia Tech program history and one of the few five-star international prospects to land in the ACC, with his agent Alex Saratsis announcing the portal entry through DraftExpress. He will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

The profile is easy to understand the buzz around. Avdalas drew early comparisons to Luka Dončić due to his similar size, playmaking flair, and ability to score in isolation, and he backed up that hype with a scorching start to his college career.

He delivered several standout performances early in the season, highlighted by a 33-point effort in an overtime win over Providence and a 30-point game against Western Carolina. He also shared Co-Rookie and Co-Player of the Week honors in early November and took home another ACC Rookie of the Week honor in December.

For FSU, the fit is straightforward. Luke Loucks is in the market for high-upside wings and playmakers with multiple years of eligibility, and Avdalas checks both boxes with a profile built around creation, size, and court vision that few players in this portal cycle can match. He played and started 31 games last season, averaging 12.1 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.1 rebounds in 31.7 minutes of action per game.

The decision to forgo official visits puts the onus on coaching staffs to build relationships remotely and through film evaluation, making NIL packages and program fit the determining factors in Avdalas' decision. With a field this competitive, spanning the SEC, Big 12, Big Ten, and ACC, FSU will need to make a compelling case that Tallahassee is the right environment for one of European basketball's most intriguing young prospects to take the next step toward his NBA dreams.
