As Florida hopes Jon Sumrall is the cure for the woes that have plagued its program for nearly two decades, it will give its new coach a shiny update to the Swamp.
On Thursday, UF announced renovations to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, which have been in the works for nearly a decade. The project is estimated to cost $1.45 billion, making it the most expensive stadium project in college football history.
The renovation is set to begin during the 2027 offseason and is expected to be completed ahead of the 2030 season.
Renovations to the stadium, which opened in 1930, include new suites across the entire east side, new premium seating, and updated, state-of-the-art video boards. The renovation will maintain the stadium's capacity of 88,548.
This is set to be the first major renovation to the stadium since it added the current luxury boxes on the west side in 2003. Florida also released renderings of the new stadium, which features updated facades for the outside of the building.
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is one of the most iconic venues in college sports, and it seems the Gators will modernize some elements while maintaining the stadium's core.
