GAINESVILLE — The red-hot Florida baseball team will have chance to get back to the College World Series playing on the Gators’ home field.
Coach Kevin O’Sullivan’s squad was awarded the No. 8 national seed in the 64-team NCAA Tournament and will host Miami (38-18) — the No. 2 seed in the Gainesville Regional — No. 3 Troy (32-29) and No. 4 Rider (33-18).
UF opens at 1 p.m. Friday against Rider on ESPN+. Miami and Troy will meet at 6 p.m. on the ACC Network.
Winners of 10 of their last 12 games and featuring a nation-best 15-7 record against top-25 opponents, the Gators will host a Super Regional if they prevail during the double-elimination series, slated run Friday-Sunday at Condron Family Ballpark.
Florida, ranked ninth by Baseball America and No. 11 in the RPI, closed the regular-season with three-straight SEC series and reached the conference tournament semifinals before squandering a 6-0 lead during an 8-7 loss to fourth-ranked Georgia.
The Gators have hosted a regional 13 times during O’Sullivan and reached the NCAA Tournament in each of his 19 seasons in Gainesville.
