Florida baseball alum Jac Caglianone will participate in the 2026 Home Run Derby.
The derby is scheduled for July 13 at 8 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and will be aired on Netflix.
Caglianone, who made the announcement on social media on Wednesday, July 8, will be joined by Tampa Bay's third baseman Junior Caminero and New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice. In total, there will be eight participants.
Should Caglianone win this year’s derby, he would become the youngest winner since 1993.
This will be the first year of a new home run derby format that has departed from timed rounds. Each hitter will now receive 20 swings in the first round and 15 swings in the semifinals and finals. If a player hits a home run on the final swing, then they may continue hitting until they fail to homer.
Ties are broken by the longest home run. Ties in the semis and finals will be decided by a three-swing swing-off.
In his second season, Caglianone has batted .258 with 14 home runs with the Kansas City Royals. Nine of his long balls were hit during June, which included six over a five-game span.
The slugger owns Florida’s home run record as he launched 75. He also owns the Gators’ single-season home run record at 35, which he set during the 2024 season.
