Florida has already translated the momentum from its top-five 2027 recruiting class into the next cycle. After securing the first blue-chip commitment of 2028 in four-star wide receiver Armani Strong, the Gators are now eyeing a second highly-touted wideout in four-star pass catcher Braylon Clark.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 185-pound Charlotte, North Carolina, native delivered a stellar sophomore season for Charlotte Country Day, amassing 65 receptions for 1,093 yards and 12 touchdowns. His standout performance broke the Buccaneers' single-season record for receiving yards. The top-ranked prospect in the Tar Heel State is widely regarded as one of the most dynamic athletes in the nation.

To pursue Clark, Sumrall and the Gators are expanding their footprint into North Carolina -- an area that netted UF three-star safety Robert Geathers III for its 2027 class. The pursuit underlines Florida's aggressive approach under new head coach Jon Sumrall. His emphasis on establishing relationships has been a point many future signees have discussed as a driving factor in their decision.

The Gators are making an early impression on the blue-chip athlete, one that Sumrall hopes will land him in Gainesville in a year. Clark told Swamp247 the Gators made him feel like a "priority," and encouraged him to attend a game in the fall.

Braylon Clark's recruiting summary

Clark is positioned as the No. 14 overall prospect in the 2028 class and No. 6 at his position according to 247Sports composite. On3 industry rankings have him at Nos. 12 and 4, respectively. He currently holds 34 offers, including invitations from 12 other SEC schools; among them are Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, and LSU.
