The Calgary Flames are losing two members of their organization to Russia.

Ivan Prosvetov and Artem Grushnikov are both signing contracts in Russia's KHL.

Prosvetov, a goalie, had his deal officially announced by the KHL.

The defenseman Grushnikov had his deal reported by Inside AHL Hockey.

Prosvetov and Grushnikov both spent last season at the AHL level with the Calgary Wranglers.

The goalie Prosvetov most recently just in North America for the one season, putting up an .887 save percentage.

He actually played junior hockey in the United States, and he came up through the Coyotes' and Avalanche's systems. Prosvetov played 11 NHL games for the Avs before leaving for the KHL and CSKA Moscow in 2024-25.

The season in Moscow brought Prosvetov back to North America, but he now returns to play for Avangard Omsk.

Grushnikov came to North America when he joined the OHL's Hamilton Bulldogs, then played in the Dallas Stars' organization. He never made it to the NHL with either Dallas or Calgary.

Now, Grushnikov has signed a contract with CSKA Moscow.

On paper, neither of these losses are huge, but these were two pieces of organizational depth with some decent professional experience, and Calgary will have to find ways of replacing them.
